HOW TO: Caring for your Hydrangea Blooms

Hydrangeas are one of the most beautiful houseplants you can own. They are low maintenance, grow quickly, and are easy to care for. Hydrangeas are also great for cutting and can be used in arrangements year round.
Watering
Hydrangeas love water — keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. Water deeply 2-3 times per week, or more frequently in hot weather. Wilting is usually a sign of thirst, and they will often perk right back up after a good drink.
Light
Hydrangeas prefer morning sun and afternoon shade, especially in warmer climates. Too much direct afternoon sun can scorch the blooms and cause wilting.
Cut Flower Care
When using hydrangeas in arrangements, cut stems at a 45-degree angle and place immediately in water. Re-cut stems every few days and change the water regularly to extend vase life. Hydrangeas are thirsty — keep the vase topped up!
Reviving Wilted Blooms
If your hydrangea blooms are wilting in a vase, try submerging the entire bloom in cool water for 30-45 minutes. This can rehydrate the petals and bring them back to life.
